About this work:
Baltasar Gracián y Morales (Belmonte de Calatayud, 1601 - Tarazona, 1658) was the most important exponent of Spanish baroque conceptism. 2001 was the 400th anniversary of his birth, which Círculo del Arte celebrated with the publication of the complete text of his key work El Criticón, a masterpiece whose transcendence is only comparable to that of El Quijote. This collector's edition contains 36 illustrations by Antonio Saura - unpublished up to now - from a series of 90 which he had planned, but which were interrupted by his death, as well as a prologue by Aurora Egido - a specialist in the Spanish Golden Age and curator of the celebrations surrounding the Gracián centenary - and an end piece by Miquel Batllori, one of the most renowned historians and experts on the figure of Gracián. In short, this is a veritable illustrated literary jewel. The book: with 35 illustrations by Antonio Saura.
