Hermann Orduña

Hermann Orduña (Mexico D.F., 1977) is one of the rising young artists of Mexico. His training highlights his stays in Oaxaca—the birthplace of such well-known artists as Francisco Toledo and Rodolfo Nieto—and in the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas of Mexico City. After specializing in graphic techniques, in 2003 Orduña moved to Barcelona, where he currently lives. His work reveals a deep relationship with nature, especially with animals, the earth, the cosmos, the sun, and the moon, things to which he attributes influences on humankind and its states of being. Felines, birds, and fantasy animals inhabit many of his creations. In 2005 he participated in the Forum Social Mediterráneo along with Josep Guinovar, Rafols-Casamada, Alfons Borrell, and Antoni Llena. His work has been exhibited in different cities in Europe and America. In 2008 he inaugurated La Rueda, a printer’s studio and gallery.
