Josep Moscardó
The work of Josep Moscardó (Barcelona, 1953) is of an impressionist cut. It is based on the Mediterranean world, with a highly personal treatment of light and colour. Moscardó studied at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes Sant Jordi and at the Escuela Llotja in Barcelona. He has shown regularly since 1978 at the Sala Parés in Barcelona and at the D. J. Lester Fine Arts Gallery in Los Angeles, developing an extensive and important opus of graphic work. Josep Moscardó has been to many places in Europe, North America, and the East, and this has stimulated his appreciation of nature. His preferred settings are urban scenes and landscapes, familiar and emblematic places in Catalonia—the suburbs of Tibidabo, the harbour, the Passeig de Gràcia or Cadaqués—rendered in compositions that bring about a sensation of nearness. His pictures come out in rapid brush strokes that merge into a vibrant and surprisingly coloured weave.
